A number of people have asked me what I do to prepare my students for the AQA Unit 1 writing as many of them find it extremely difficult to understand the importance of having a good structure in getting a good grade in this section of the exam. A couple of years ago I produced this template in which I get students to write their essays. I have found that many students go up a whole grade when they use it! The only problem is that when you take it away and just give them a piece of lined paper you are often back to square one!! Oh well …
