If like me you prefer not to base your teaching on one particular textbook, and thus are always on the lookout for good resources, it might be worth having a look at the past papers available from other exam boards. It might sound obvious but I mentioned this to some colleagues recently and none of them had taken advantage of this method of getting resources. OCR, Edexcel and WJEC all make their past papers (including listening files) available online free of charge. You will need to get the exams coordinator at your school/college to give you a password to access each exam board’s portal. Don’t forget that in addition to the question paper and listening files you should also download the mark scheme and transcript.
You may also find some good activities in the International Baccalaureate papers, although these are more difficult to get your hands on! The website www.freeexampapers.com has a number of papers available for free.
